2016 Signing Day at BHS

Each year in Ohio and across the U.S. a small percentage of high school seniors draw attention by signing commitments to attend the college of their choice via an athletic scholarship.  We are genuinely happy for these young people and recognize their hard work has paid off.  However, what we also know is that a much larger percentage of graduates have worked equally as hard to fulfill their dreams of attending college, committing to military service or entering a technical/vocational career. The reality is that most of our students will go on to do successful work in communications, business, cosmetology, law enforcement, medicine, engineering…...and other career fields.  The work of these students has also paid off as they graduate “College and Career Ready.”

School Calendar for the Next Three Years is Set

2017-18 CalendarAt the February 20, Board of Education meeting, a resolution was passed approving the school year calendars for 2017-18; 2018-19; and, 2019-20.  Typically Brookville and most other school districts operate on a three year cycle.  The calendars were drafted by a committee which included students, parent and staff representatives. Once the calendar options were developed, the total staff, and then the Board of Education gave input regarding the dates presented.

Finally at the February meeting the Board took action to approve the calendars. You can look at each year HERE. One note of caution is that staff in-service times such as STAR days (early release) have only been set for the 2017-18 year and not the final two years.
