Music
|
Musical education develops creative thinking, provides a means of self-expression and communication and strengthens a student’s self-concept and confidence. It also enhances the ability to visualize and encourages creative problem solving and decision making. Music develops work habits and a sense of responsibility because the basic concepts of music stress creative thinking and analytical skills. Students who have a strong background in the arts are more likely to outperform academically their peers who do not. According to a study by the Business Committee for the Arts, students who study music and read musical notation perform academically 30% better than those who do not. Students in strong musical programs score well above their peers on SAT exams. |
