Physical Education

The childhood obesity problem in America is serious and children need to be taught and encouraged to be physically active. Besides improving health, physical activity improves cognitive ability, reduces tobacco use, reduces insomnia, reduces depression and reduces anxiety. Our brains function best when we exercise because brains grow similar to muscles. There are changes at the molecular level during exercise that directly influences learning. Exercise optimizes the mind for alertness, attention and motivation and spurs development of new nerve cells.

All students need to wear gym shoes to physical education! Wearing gym shoes ensures that each child can participate safely and successfully.  Additionally, this is part of their PE grade.  On rainy or snowy days, students can bring gym shoes in school bags or backpacks and put them on before PE.  Be sure you know what days your child has Physical Education class!
