Goodwill Drive to Victory

The Goodwill Stores Drive to Victory in conjunction with WHIO-TV and Arby’s will be happening again this year.  Drive to Victory is a friendly competition each week between two local high schools that battle off the field in a donation drive benefiting Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley.

Week 9 pits Valley View High School against Brookville High School October 22-26, 2018.  Donations will be accepted at the Goodwill trailers parked at Brookville High School, Monday from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Since 2007, the Goodwill Stores Drive to Victory campaign has generated more than one million pounds of clothing and household items along with more than 75 vehicles from around the Miami Valley. These items are sold in stores and at the auto auction, with proceeds supporting the mission of helping people with disabilities and other needs here in the community.  Through this program, nearly $22,000 of scholarship funds have been provided to local schools.

Each week a Goodwill Store donation trailer will be placed at each of the selected schools prior to that week’s game on Friday. During the week, Goodwill attendants will accept donations of clothing, household items and computers. Receipts for the tax deductible donation will be available.

Cars, trucks, boats and RVs can also be donated and counted toward the school’s weekly total.  Call 228-AUTO to donate or find out more details on how a vehicle donation can be made. Make sure you mention that you are from Brookville so the donation can count towards our school for the additional 1,000 pound donation.

On Friday, the trailers will be picked up and weighed.  Different than in the past, Goodwill, WHIO-TV, and Arby’s have decided to award the high school band that has collected the most weight will receive a $200 scholarship from Aryb’s. At the conclusion of the season the band that has collected the most weight during their Drive to Victory week will receive an additional $1000 scholarship.
